Passport, Visa and UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
All visitors travelling to the United Kingdom from outside the UK and Ireland must hold either a valid UK visa or a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), depending on their nationality and the purpose of their visit.
Entry requirements are determined by the nationality shown on your passport. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, delegates are advised to consult their nearest British Embassy or Consulate, or to visit the official UK government website: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
Delegates must complete their event registration before applying for a visa or ETA. Once registered, you may contact the EAU Registration Department to request an official letter of invitation, if required for your application.
Please note that visa and ETA applications can take time to process. We strongly recommend applying well in advance to ensure approval before the congress begins. Documentation requirements may vary by country and individual circumstances, even for delegates from the same nationality.
Passport Validity Requirements
For entry into the United Kingdom:
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the UK. The United Kingdom does not require six months’ validity beyond your travel dates, nor does it impose restrictions on how recently your passport was issued.
For travellers departing from or transiting through the Schengen Area (e.g. living in or connecting via Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, etc.):
Your passport must also comply with Schengen Area exit requirements, which are checked at your point of departure. These rules apply regardless of whether you are a Schengen resident or only transiting.
Schengen passport rules:
- Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years at the time of entry into the Schengen Area
- Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the date you leave the Schengen Area
